Bully -free environment

Last week was Bully-free week. Students from Sunnybrae wore pink to support this campaign.

Ethics around Pets

With the guidance of Miss Jane, Room 10 students considered the pros and cons of kindergartens having a pet. They learned about the term, ethics and made decisions about the rights and wrongs of homing a pet in a school. They ranked themselves based on how strongly the felt about the topic along a continuum.

Non Fiction Reading Strategies

Room 10 has been focusing on reading strategies that are particularly useful when reading non-fiction texts. Each group has been extending their knowledge of forms of communication by reading short texts and journal articles. The strategies they have been learning to apply are:

  • Questioning
  • Building Vocabulary

They were put through their paces - stretching, jumping and balancing to prove that they had what it takes to make a great diver. After a lot of fun, the students received the opportunity to participate in a free diving lesson at Glenfield Pools.

Special Visitor

A part of a mini inquiry into the benefits of pets, Miss Jane brought in her guinea pig. Room 10 were very impressed by the size and cuteness of this auburn animal.

Logic Games

Once in awhile, we get the opportunity to develop our logical thinking skills through a range of games and puzzles. Here is Jae Young and Darrius thinking strategically during a game of chess!
